SRAS Online: Russian Language Study

This option is ideal if you are a complete beginner who wants to try out the language, OR if you want to sample the lessons before committing to a longer period.

Included in this short online course are 4 individual synchronous (live with your instructor) lessons supplemented by additional asynchronous learning material in the form of written exercises, recordings, quizlets, and other activities. 

This short course is appropriate for any age and any language ability – from ambitious high school students to working professionals and lifelong learners. Our online Russian courses are designed around your language needs.

Our teachers are experts in teaching Russian as a Second Language. You will take the first steps in a methodology that can take you to conversational level and beyond, should you choose to do so.

До начала курса вы получите задания (посмотреть фильм, прочитать текст, выполнить упражнения), материал которых станет основой для обсуждения на первой встрече. В процессе общения на первом уроке преподаватель будет фиксировать ваши ошибки, неточности, трудности, с которыми вы сталкиваетесь, чтобы на последующих занятиях предложить вам отработку данного материала. Преподаватель будет обращать ваше внимание на слабые места, давать рекомендации, объяснять особенности употребления тех или иных слов и форм в русском языке (лексико-грамматические конструкции, синтаксические обороты, неологизмы, фразеологизмы, правила произношения, стилистические особенности и др.). Вы получите задания, выполнение которых поможет вам справиться с вашими трудностями и сделает вашу речь более грамотной.

По вашему желанию вы сможете: 1) изучить отдельные грамматические темы и отработать их в специально смоделированных ситуациях общения, 2) научиться грамотно письменно и / или устно выражать свои мысли на разные темы, 3) ознакомиться с особенностями разных стилей русского языка (художественного, публицистического, научного, официально-делового), 4) при необходимости улучшить умения чтения, аудирования, говорения или письма, а также 5) многое-многое другое.

Мы предлагаем вам индивидуальный курс, который будет соответствовать вашим запросам, поможет устранить ваши проблемы и в целом повысит ваш уровень владения русским языком.

Возможные варианты моделирования курса.

1. Вы сами знаете свои минусы и пробелы или имеете определенные цели и задачи – напишите нам, и преподаватель подготовит для вас нужный материал.

2. Вы точно не знаете свои проблемы, хотите, чтобы преподаватель помог вам разобраться и составил для вас план занятий. В таком случае до начала курса вы получите задания (посмотреть фильм, прочитать текст, выполнить упражнения), материал которых станет основой для обсуждения на первой встрече. В процессе общения на первом уроке вы вместе с преподавателем сможете составить план ваших уроков.

Индивидуальные занятия с преподавателем и выполнение заданий для самостоятельной работы помогут вам справиться с вашими трудностями и сделать вашу речь более богатой и грамотной.

 Upon registration, you will be contacted with some scheduling questions, and we will also ask that you take a brief assessment (written) to help your instructor prepare for the first lesson. 

We can usually get you set up to begin your studies one week from when you register.

Please plan to work from a laptop or desktop computer (as opposed to smartphone, or even iPad). Headphones and mic are strongly recommended to allow for better sound. We will be using Microsoft Teams or Zoom for our live sessions and Canvas to access homework.

Individual lessons can be rescheduled with at least 24-hour written notice to your instructor. If you are unable to attend the class for the full duration agreed upon and have not given 24-hour notice, the time cannot be carried over to another class as the instructor has already committed their time.

The selected package is to be used within 6 calendar months from the original start date. Please note: refunds are not available. If you wish to postpone or terminate your studies before completing all prepaid lessons, written notice must be provided to us. No refunds will be issued for unused lessons, but any unused lessons may be rescheduled and used within 12 calendar months from the original course start date. After this period, all remaining lessons will be forfeited. You must contact us in advance to reactivate postponed lessons and agree on a new schedule, which is subject to teacher availability.

This is a non-credit course presented by our partners at NovaMova Language School (Kyiv). We are happy to provide confirmation of participation for continuing education credits or other purposes.

If you have a student who is, or will be, off cycle due to scheduling conflicts or a semester abroad (in a non-Russian program), we are able to keep them on pace to rejoin your next course level. Contact us for more information.
