Russian Visas
This page is for ordering visa support and/or processing. Before you decide on which visa to apply for, please see our Russian Visas 101 page for specific nuances and legal issues concerning each type. This will especially affect those hoping to stay in private apartments (including AirBnB accommodations).
Order Options
- Voucher/Invitation only means we obtain the official invitation/support document for you and you are responsible for applying for the visa yourself including paying the consulate fees, etc.
- Full Processing includes the official invitation/support document, as well as all consulate and visa processing fees, FedEx return of your passport and visa, and comprehensive support from SRAS as we guide you through the process. The only additional expense you will have is shipping your materials for visa processing (~$35 if you follow our recommendation to FedEx your materials overnight).
Visa Types
Tourist Visa - Full Processing
Timing: Standard processing is 9-10 business days plus shipping.
What you need: Passport (valid at least 6 months after the end date of the visa), one passport photo
Entry Options: Single-, double-, or multi-entry.
Costs:
- Single-entry – $430
- Double-entry – $430
- 3-yr multi-entry (US Citizens only): – $430
Includes consular and local agency fees as well as Fedex return delivery (weekday delivery, continental US).
Tourist Visa - Voucher Only
Timing: Your voucher will be ready 24-48 hours after submitting application and payment, often faster.
What you need: Passport valid at least 6 months after the end date of the visa
Options: This voucher can be valid for up to 30 days. Unless you specify precise dates, it will be issued based on the entry date for a 30-day period. It can be single or double entry (same cost). This voucher also serves as the basis for requesting a 3-yr multi-entry visa (US citizens only).
Important!! The voucher is only the first step in the visa process. If you do NOT have prior experience with Russian visas, we recommend selecting the Full Processing option above as with the Voucher Only option our involvement extends only to delivering the voucher and not to application review or other consultation through the entire visa process. Consult the website of the Russian Consulate and/or the agency authorized to accept applications for instructions.
Cost: $30
Humanitarian and Business Visas – Full Processing
Options:
- Single- or double- entry, 90-day humanitarian or business visas
- One-year multi-entry humanitarian or business visa*
- 3-yr multi-entry business visas (US citizens only)
* One-year multi-entry visas are restricted in that you may only be in country 90 out of any 180-day period.
Timing:
- Single-, double-, and one-year multi-entry visas: visa will be ready approximately 25-26 business days after submitting application and payment. IMPORTANT: the Russian visa authorities will only begin processing invitations that have an entry date that is 45 days away. If your intended entry date is more than 45 days away, it will get put ‘on hold’ until exactly 45 days from the entry. Since processing the invitation takes around 25 business days, we always recommend selecting a slightly earlier entry than what you actually intend in order to allow sufficient time for invitation processing (~25 business days) and Consulate processing, which is 9-10 business days with no option for expedited or rush processing currently.
- 3-yr multi-entry business visas: visa support will be read in 12-15 business days after submitting application and payment.
What you need: Passport valid at least 6 months after the end date of the visa
Options: There are expedited options available at additional cost. These generally save a few days only, but sometimes that is what is needed. If you are on a tight schedule, contact us about options and costs.
Costs:
- Single entry, 90-day – $530
- Double-entry, 90-day – $530
- One-year multi-entry – $590
- 3-yr multi-entry (US Citizens only, business visas only): – $710
Includes consular and local agency fees as well as Fedex return delivery (weekday delivery, continental US).

A long overdue thank you for the wonderful trip you and your staff planned for the Drew group in St. Petersburg. I have never had a trip where NOTHING went wrong. It was a terrific experience from start to finish, your staff was superb and St. Petersburg Economics University was a marvelous host. We enjoyed each and every lecture and guide, and the many fine added touches. I would love to do this again.
Thanks again to (SRAS Assistant Director) Josh Wilson for being so helpful with getting us started! At our concluding discussion class yesterday I asked the students to write and then present five “Kliuchevykh slov” about their experience. Several of them wound up referencing Josh’s comments about trying to observe without judging, which he made during the Moscow Walking Tour. Thanks for helping me teach this course!
We had a great time overall. The students were super impressed with SRAS — the guides, the accommodations, the excursions, etc. The guides were super knowledgeable and kind–the only thing that would improve the tours is volume. They tend to speak quietly so a few people who can’t hear lose interest. But we loved the Hermitage art project and Novgorod, and the bunker, and going behind the fountains at Peterhof, and the boat to Peterhof… We loved everything!
Renee, the work that you do is so far beyond any kind of formal service or trip planning in your vision, scope, and ability to think of absolutely everything and anticipate potential problems in advance. You clearly have a gift for this.
My Dear Renee, I am still in Kazakhstan but can report back we had a perfectly splendid time in Kyrgyzstan. The students and I want to collectively buy a little plot of land and a yurt or house in the village at the base of the mountains. They loved their families and I fell in love with Kenzhe, we want to include her in our documentary. I will be in touch over the next two weeks. Forever grateful to you.
The SRAS guides were excellent! They really knew their stuff and were able to relate the history of the places we visited in an interesting and inventive way. It was obvious they had a lot of experience working with American students.
