Gamification is a new promising direction in foreign language learning (ELL). Not only it boosts students’ motivation and engagement, but it also brings many ELL-relevant solutions to the language classroom: e.g., reducing speaking anxiety, providing meaningful context, and employing higher cognitive skills. This workshop is a practical introduction to gamification, a guide through available resources, and an opportunity to exchange ideas and experiences. We will discuss what kind of games exist out there for the Russian learners, what games to use and when, and the potential caveats and limitations of gamification.
