SRAS is pleased to announce a new member to our team: Molly Cain. Molly comes to us with nearly three decades of experience in travel to Russia and nearly two decades in working with study abroad. She will be assisting SRAS in further developing our partnerships with US universities.
Molly first went to Russia in 1991. She landed at Sheremetyevo as Yeltsin was speaking on a tank outside the parliament in Moscow. She graduated from The University of Texas at Austin with a degree in Slavic and Eurasian Studies.
She worked for MIR Corporation in Moscow in 1994 and in 1997. One of her favorite journeys in Russia was taking the Trans-Siberian to Irkutsk. From Irkutsk, she went on to Tuva. MIR wanted to create an off the beaten path trip for this area so her job was to find Tuvan throat singers and camel herders. She and her colleague, Andrei, were traveling in a GAZ Volga, crossing the vast Tuvan steep, stopping at yurts along the way to ask for directions to find the camels. Each yurt was filled with kind families that were so inviting offering food, tea, and vodka made from camel’s milk. She began her journey in the world of study abroad in 2002 and has worked with universities across Europe, Asia, Australia, and New Zealand.
Molly will be taking on the position of Director for Institutional Relations for SRAS. She will work to develop new university partnerships, while expanding and strengthening our existing university relationships to better serve more students. She will also be assisting in program development in new and innovative academic areas.
Molly is based in Austin, Texas where she lives with her family.
