Kirov Orchestra in New York November 9, 10, 16, 17, 2008The Kirov Orchestra and Chorus of the Mariinsky Theatre of St.Petersburg will be performing four concerts of the music of Sergei Prokofiev in November at Avery Fisher Hall at Lincoln Center. The series opens on Sunday Nov.9 at 3 p.m. with a program of Prokofiev's music for ballet. This performance will be preceded at 1-2:30 by a panel discussion "Stages of Life: Sergei Prokofiev's Music for Theater and Cinema," moderated by Prof.Harlow Robinson (Northeastern U.) with Prof. Simon Morrison (Princeton) and Prof.Michael Pisani (Vassar). Other performances are on Nov.10 at 8 p.m. (complete music to Romeo and Juliet), Nov.16 at 3 p.m. (concert performance of Love for Three Oranges, preceded by a lecture on the opera by Harlow Robinson), and Nov.17 at 8 p.m. (music from the films Alexander Nevsky and Ivan the Terrible).
